I'm Goin' To Kansas City, Kansas City Here I Come (with apologies to Lieber and Stoller)

I'm heading out to our nation's heartland for the weekend and because I intend to spend the entirety of my time there elbow-deep in barbeque sauce, posting at Codemorse will be suspended until Monday.

If at any point you find yourself experiencing the symptoms of withdrawal (shakes, nausea, a fierce craving for the drunken, semi-literate rantings of strange people with blogs) put your head between your knees and breathe deeply.

In the meanwhile, I invite you all to explore the links I've slapped on the side of my page. Worthy of special mention is "Then Fuck You, Jack: The Life and Art of Vern." I can't say enough about the guy. Guillermo Del Toro, director of Cronos, Blade II, and Hellboy, wrote the intro for his book of film reviews. That's seriously cool shit.

The reviews on his site are free to read. I recommend 2001, Blade II, Roadhouse, and The Lord of the Rings for your reading and laughing pleasure.

An Observation

After 9-11, comedians stayed away from jokes about airplanes and terrorism for months out of respect. Tonight, Conan riffed on Katrina and the crowd guffawed away.

My latest Retro Rocket review of Crossroads is up at The Average Joes.
