Chinese Allegations

Now that the Chinese are in town, and everything China is really hot right now, I thought I'd post an article regarding allegations of organ harvesting in China from Falun Gong members.

Any of you that have lived in New York see the Falun Gong all the time. Their allegations of torture and abuse at the hands of the Chinese are pretty horrific. But this might take the cake.

Here in NYC, there are constant reminders of Falun Gong, in the pamphlets and materials passed out by Chinese and American activists trying to educate people to this horror.

Where's our indignation at China? Silly me, I forgot - they're our economic bitch-masters now.

I hear you. And yet the Washington Press Corp., insistent on mocking Bush, somehow goes the other way:

No, they're not concerned about having invited China, a willful and deplorable human rights abuser, to the U.S., but instead are concerned that the Chinese were treated with "indignities."

That's fine if they disagree with Bush, but at least get on the right side of the debate.

Bush and I do not agree on much of anything. Add this to the list.

China's economic might has somehow blinded vast swathes of people to their abuses, and it sickens me.

In high school, working with Amnesty International, I'd read stories/meet people who'd tell them to me, about the sort of insanity that goes on inside their borders.

Saddam Hussein is a puggle named Ziva next to China and it's government.

Remind me to tell you about an amnesty petition we heard while clerking regarding a woman who was allegedly forced to undergo two abortions in China because of China's procreation laws (or whatever they are called). Whether she was lying or not is up for debate, but ... who knows...

Meanwhile, I'll pretend not to be offended by any purported equivalence between the Butcher of Baghdad and the greatest, cutest and sweetest pug ever to lick the face of men (and women).

Saddam's cruelty, like any "faithful" man, is limited only by his options.
